Cleaning Hardwood Floors - 7 Steps to a Clean Hardwood Floor

Before you begin, turn on any ceiling fans in the rooms you are cleaning, this is to help dry your floors quickly. Next dust the floors using a micro fiber mop or a Swiffer with a fresh cloth. Here's a TIP: use a piece of flannel over the Swiffer head, it works great and can be washed and reused.
Using a regular bucket, fill the bucket half full with warm water and add ¼ cup of white vinegar.

Find a good mop. I prefer the Libman Wonder Mop because it is easy to squeeze excess water out, easy to keep clean and dries quickly. The Wonder Mop head can be removed and put into the wash machine and you can buy replacements as needed.

Put the mop in the vinegar water and gently turn it. Squeeze all excess water out. Now you are ready to wipe your floors. You can also wipe the baseboards. Using the Libman Wonder Mop allows you to wipe the baseboards very easily.

Once a month steam clean your wood floors with a floor steam cleaner. Eureka makes a small hard floor steamer that comes with a microfiber pad that can be reused after a cycle in the washing machine. Just remember to follow the manufacturers instructions and never leave the steamer sitting on the wood floor.

For continued maintenance, just use a micro fiber mop to keep your floors dusted on a daily basis. Your floors should stay shiny and will be great looking in just minutes.
